Fruit juice – skinny friend or muscle builders enemy?

Know the difference between dextrose and fructose?

One gives you instant energy, the other is readily converted in to fat.

Fructose is the bad guy. It’s the main sweetener in soda drinks, which is why so many people who drink soda pile on the pounds.

Drink a soda with a meal, and you’ll be swelling your fat reserves. Only a small portion of the sugar converts to glycogen, the rest is happy to turn in to fat.

But here’s the thing I never knew, guess what else does the same?

Fruit.

I always thought fruit was a safe bet for eating healthily – and it is – when you understand that it behaves just like soda.

So depending on your goals, choose wisely. You’re never going to look built and ripped on soda (however skinny you are now). But you will with fruit.

If you’re trying to pack on the pounds, fruit juice and fruit are both safe bets. They’re packed full of good stuff. And if you’re calorie negative, fruit juice is an easy way to reach your target.

Believe it or not, bodybuilders avoid fruit in their ripped stage.

So that’s the bad guy – fructose. Dextrose on the other hand gives you instant energy that converts straight in to glycogen.
