I could bang on all day about protein. Every bicep curl you do tears your muscle fibres. It’s the protein that provides the amino acids your body needs to form new cells. These cells – from the amino acids – repair the tears and also make them stronger to stop it happening again – which to you and me, means they grow bigger.
Here’s the biggie though: research shows the body is primed for ‘protein intake’ in search for amino acids for up to days after a good workout. Two days!
So don’t just eat protein after your gym sessions. Keep chucking it down your throat morning, noon and night. Turn yourself into a protein hoover. You’ll find it hard to eat too much protein when your first start your gym program (especially if you are following Vinnie’s).
